Decor Inspiration: Emily Bourgeois
April 27, 2012
You know the secret for writing good copy
about interior design, right?
Sex, rugs, and rock and roll.
Noooooooo, that's not completely accurate.
It is about truly connecting with your topic
in a way that is uniquely you.
Today I am in the mood to share
one of my favorite kitchen/living spaces
designed by Emily Bourgeois.

one of my favorite kitchen/living spaces
designed by Emily Bourgeois.
When your heart begins to beat faster
as you stare at an image,
you know you're on to something lovely, yes?
Behind sliding, space conserving
turquoise doors, lies a refrigerator and storage.
turquoise doors, lies a refrigerator and storage.
Genius. Genius, I tell you.
If you are me, you are dying to touch
the skull behind the sofa,
run your fingers carefully over the teeth.
I absolutely love that Emily designed a white kitchen here.
The contrast happening is thrilling.
Feelin me?
How do you feel about the fact they just said no to rugs?

p.s.
Just delivered a painting commissioned
for a particular wall in a beautiful home!
I can't tell you how fun and fulfilling
such projects are for a little ol suburban
recluse with a paintbrush!
Peace to you, just where you are.

thanks for the ego boost, you crazy kids. i have sold a lot of collages and mixed media but the abstracts are a newer thing. a few years back i was encouraged by an artist friend to paint, and since i can't draw, um, it's kind of perfect for me. i love to create atmosphere and mood no matter what the medium!

ReplyDeleteHow is it possible that I'm just learning that you're such a talented painter? OMGoodness, girl. I love your pieces. As for no rugs - sign me up. I'm all about bare, wood, rutic floors. Said floors can even be painted...just leave 'em naked! Hugs, Lisa

I love that kitchen and family room and I think they would have junked up the vibe with rugs. The floors are beautiful and look like they cost some money so why hide them. Michele I love your painting it's really fabulous. I didn't know you did work like that...LOVE IT! I want one!
