this editorial shoot for Vogue Italy featured young ballerinas

wearing Erika Cavallini Semi-Couture (AW 2014/15)

A wonderful new blog follower emailed me

yesterday asking about the significance of pointe

shoes to me personally since she couldn't

find a related post.

I explained to her that while I was never too

successful at ballet (I was always a better musician

than dancer), my dead pointe shoe collection

is about admiration for the feminine strength

and grace involved in this beautiful art form.

When I started Hello Lovely, you may remember

my header photo which featured a ballerina

The ballerina is not me, and in fact,

my sister Jo and I shot her senior pictures

and styled her in my clothes and bling

at our French Country home which had

all that amazing natural light.

exhibition titled

Decadence.

My better judgment tells me it is indeed not a

dapper Jimmy Carter (below) viewing Tyler's work

at a gallery in London, but if it's

fine with you, I'll go on believing it is.

in the 21st century, and this is my favorite capture in it:
