Decor Inspiration: fairy lights
June 07, 2011
Even in the warm months of summer
I love the twinkle
of a little fairy light.
Sorry. I have somehow misplaced my sources for these images.
It's a safe bet at least one is via Emma's Blogg.
Help a sista out if your memory's better.*
*i blame hormones
This image makes me wanna fling a string
of em over my dining room hutch.
And seeing this lovely cabinet sort of makes me want
to blow up my hutch and hunt down
one more like this.
Wow.
I sound considerably ungrateful.
As if I believe happiness is having what you want.
Let's shrink my unsavory mood...
Maybe HEDONIC ADAPTATION is at work.*
Do you concur, armchair psychologists?
*then again, sounds a lot like hormones talking
All sorts of groovy unexpected whimsy happening here.
Help me, i love that floor lamp,
and the head on the marble thing makes me LOL.*
*is it really such a hoot?
or could it be hormonal?
Not summery, but aren't these lights precious?
Pottery Barn Kids has some pink rosy fairy lights
in the store, but I was tempted to throw a tantrum
when I didn't spot any white ones.*
Feelin fairy light?
Feelin gratitude?
Feelin hormonal?
Feelin lucky?
(Enter the giveaway!)
*oh yes i do blame estrogen.
p.s.
FOLLOWING
this blog will not balance hormones
but it will provide sweet therapy
whether you're on a menopausal rollercoaster ride
or footloose-y goose-y and carefree.
Peace to you right where you are.

Oh, geeee... I'm in the right place then! I'm feeling so emotional this week. You know, I'm pregnant, so maybe I'm a little bit extra-extra hormonal. :-)
ReplyDeleteThe lights are GREAT! And summer nights look great with some lights too!
Wishing you a wonderful & healthy day, my friend.

PS: I'm out now for a really busy day and my pregnancy blood exam. I hate that! LOL.. Oh, only one more month to find out the sex of the baby!!! Can't wait! :-)
I have several strands of fairy lights that stay on every day all year long! I love the little white lights and the sparkle. Love all the photos in this post.
ReplyDeleteMichele you are so funny!!!
ReplyDeleteThese images are gorgeous!!!

You are too cute! I blame hormones for just about everything and twinkly lights make me happy! Doesn't take much to make me happy which could be a good thing or something a little deeper than hormones. :)
ReplyDeleteI need twinkly lights now!
Thanks for making me smile!
XO
have i mentioned i REALLY LIKE AND APPRECIATE you gorgeous women who read my insane stream of consciousness stuff? cuz sometimes i re-read a post a day later and feel TOTALLY SCARED OF MY MESSED UP SELF. mainly when i make much ado about nothing. and then. i blame the hormones. and i feel a little better.

Can't decide which image I like best because they are all GORGEOUS but I think the 3rd is my favourite...oooh the deep scrumptiousness of that colour is making me swoony!
ReplyDeleteI have a string of fairylight flowers around somewhere and you are making me want to go up in the loft and find them!
And not only are you HIGHLY entertaining my dear, you are also very informative because I'd never heard the expression 'hedonic adaptation' so I clicked there on that link and then another and another and I found it very interesting! No wonder I don't enjoy salmon the way I used to when we started having it every week lol Every day is a school day!

Ha, you are hilarious, my lovely! This post is too cute. I get down my fairy lights during holidays but this is making me want to have them around all year round.
ReplyDeleteI recognise the 3rd image as Abigail Ahern's room. I love her whimsical style, particularly that piece of rusted metal that she has hung up as art!
Happy fairylight weekend to you, pretty lady!
