Lovely Finds: FIVE DOLLAR fabulous (4)
June 15, 2011
Finding fabulous for under $5
to share with you is PURE PLEASURE
so I hope you're okay with more lovely
coming your way on the cheap!
See last week's installment? It's right here.
(I shoot with an Olympus e-520 with the lens that came with it.
I use natural light and don't have time to edit!
So this morning I took 10 minutes to quickly shoot and upload.
Just thought you might want to know.)
1.
Monogram Collage.
This was done on stretched canvas
but you could use leftover wood,
cardstock, or a cereal box.
Vintage book pages and engravings
are cheap everywhere.
2.
Tulle skirting for a dress form.
Ok.
Maybe a skirt for your dress form
is not at the top of the list.
Maybe you are short exactly one dress form.
But tulle is magnificent for tutus too
(you know you need one),
and for mine I cut strips from $3 worth
(Hobby Lobby), knotted them randomly
around an elastic band, and voila...
now I can add clothing to photograph and sell on eBay.
3.
Pink geraniums.
Loving these this year,
and for $1.25 per plant
from the greenhouse,
we're sitting pretty.
These are on my front porch.
4.
Naked books.
We're seeing such nudity everywhere,
and I needed additional texture on my shelf.
Dumpster diving at your library
will probably save you the $5.
5.
Chippy old framed print.
Omg totally in love with this one
found a few years ago at a
garage sale for $1.
6.
Chipped ironstone basin.
It would have had a pitcher too.
Paid $2, rescued it from the landfill,
and it holds inspirational clippings and photos.
7.
Decor books.
Picked up this volume
of MODERN COUNTRY
a few days ago for $1.
When I opened it up on my table
to shoot, look what appeared:
a glass jar full of corks!
8.
Vintage children books.
This is a 1957 copy, and I bought
it for .50 because I remember
checking it out of my school library
and loving it when I was little.
9.
Vintage paint brush.
It's gorgeous, textural, sculptural,
and even functional for brushing away
dust on a window sill.
NO I WON'T BE PAINTING WITH IT!
I am a lazy, messy messy painter
and would spoil its beauty!
all photos by me
Sort of in love with the vintage LV box found the other day which may be
counterfeit since the stamp is not centered as it should be.
Inside is a dust cover containing an LV international style wallet
in perfect condition. The seller was an older woman who claims
it is authentic and purchased in Florida years ago.
I offered $10 and she accepted. Think it's real?
If so, I saved myself $600 plus shipping.
10.
Sterling bangles.
Yes sterling.
You can find these vintage
beauties at the flea market
or tag sales everywhere.
Wearing one is sort of ho-hum.
But MASSED?
Now that's funky fabulous, mama.
Inspired? COOOOOOOOOL.
Wonder what else we'll find this week
for five little buckaroos?
Peace to you right where you are.
