Books: Shooting THE SIXTIES {duffy}
October 23, 2011British fashion photographer
Brian Duffy
has been called
"the man who shot the 60's."
He passed away recently,
yet thanks to his family,
a few fabulous photos from the
fashion and celebrity scene
of the sixties and seventies continue
to rock the planet and still
breathe on the pages of
Duffy: In His Own Words
a quality book which
photography and style lovers
will go mad for.
Feelin' Duffy?
Oh, I am loving this shot,
and a part of me wants to rip it
right out of this glorious book
and place it on the wall
with the help of washi tape.
But I won't!
Much TOO b.e.a.u.t.i.f.u.l. a book.
David Bowie - Aladdin Sane, 1973
Remember this far-out album cover?
Duffy's photo of David Bowie
is one of his most recognizable works,
and the topic of this book:
Brian Duffy
Even though the fashion scene as captured
by Duffy was an amazing feast for the senses,
the photographer turned most of the evidence
of that innovative work to ashes.
From the ACC website, we learn:
"Notoriously, in 1979 Duffy decided
to give up photography, burning many
of his negatives in a symbolic fire
in his back yard...
Recently many negatives have
been discovered and salvaged."
is truly a special edition.
(Another extraordinary title is
Is she not fierce?
(by Richard Lester,
ACC Distribution),
will also inspire your pants off.
Um.
Pants off seems fitting for a post
honoring the sixties/seventies, yes?
Anyone fortunate enough to get their
paws on both swinging sixties titles...SCORE!
Ooooh, yeah, baby.

What's your sign?
Peace to you right where you are.

You are darn good!!! My mum presented me a book by Twiggy which has everything from her love for shoes( she says: I'm sometimes topless but never legless) to her exercise regime.
