Lovely Finds: Girl With a Serious Dream
December 30, 2011
Happy almost New Year!
As I reflect on the past year in the land of blog,
clearly there have been fun fun times
connecting online with amazingly talented and
creative artists, stylists, and thinkers...
including emerging fashion designer Ana Maria of
Girl With a Serious Dream.
What drew the fashionista and me to each other?
Inspiration.
From Black Swan.
This architect-turned-designer has followed
her heart and dream to create dreamy apparel
(to be enjoyed by ballerinas, Hollywood, and ordinary
bloggers like you and me).
Specifically, the chic pink wool coat
Natalie Portman's character Nina wore in the film
had me smitten-silly, and what do you know?
had me smitten-silly, and what do you know?
Girlwithaseriousdream
is in the business of bringing lovely
smitten-silly dreams to life.
(Smitten-silly is like slap happy without the violence).
Wool coat
One of her offerings is this custom pink beauty...
seriously stunning and classic.
Other pieces are inspired by the perfect
world of ballet and stylistic feminine-with-edge
throughout the film...
Lace Bolero Shrug
Right?
Iris tunic
I have this tunic in ivory,
and it is a favorite for its beauty,
timelessness, and wearability in all seasons.
Gotta love a sheer flowy top layered over something snug.
Could this scarf be any yummier?
Won't be surprised at all if Anthropologie
comes knocking at the Girl With a Serious Dream door
and snatches up her collections!
French Lace Scalloped Tunic
Here is to a new year, a new you, serious dreams,
and fresh new faces in fashion such as
and fresh new faces in fashion such as
Ana Maria's Girl With a Serious Dream.
And your serious dreams for 2012 are...?
Peace to you right where you are.
Peace to you right where you are.
p.s.
Wanted to share an image from
Black Swan in which Nina is wearing
a feathery soft grey shrug for practice.
Couldn't get it out of the noggin for days,
but alas I can't find a youtube or photo of it
anywhere.

Love love the pink coat, I had one similar in the late 60s but mine had shiny black buttons. One of my favorite coats of all time. Thank you for introducing us to this talented lady, Happy new Year,

I adore the feminine deliciousness of the clothes worn by Natalie Portman in the Black Swan. As a dancer, my daughter, Hannah, recognized her designs as not only beautiful but totally functional, too! You continue to inspire me, Michelle. My muse!
