Decor Inspiration {Tents in "The Holiday" Movie}
March 24, 2013Thanks so much for the kindness
and encouragement about my diagnosis.
Each day I have recovered more
and more gratitude, which is so
essential for well-being and
optimal healing.
Know what else may be essential to my well being?
Yep.
A fancy, femme-lovely, fufu tent like
the beloved one in The Holiday.
images via hooked on houses
Maybe it's because it has been a snowy
spring day here, and I'm still all snug
in my Swedish duvet slippers that
annoy everyone in my house...
but cozying down inside a dreamy
fort, staring up at the stars in
dreamy wonder
sounds enchanting.
Other possibilities:
Oh twinkly white lights, how I love thee!
Tents are a sweet escape from stress, ya?
The perfect spot to read
and share secrets.
*
Tents are shelter for the soul even.
*
And they do make an ideal
nest in which to daydream
with
Jude Law.
*
Were you a tentmaking kinda kid?
Peace to you right where you are.

OMG Michele this brings back so many memories. My sister and I used to make tents all the time much to my mother's horror since we usually used her good blankets.....;)

ReplyDeleteHey girlie, I´ve started my blog on my own domain: http://tinajoathome.com/ and will soon abandon my Blogger account.
Just discovered that I won´t be able to leave comments here anymore after that since you don´t have the "Name and url" option added, do you think you could add that to the others? Would love to continue talking to you. :-)
Om gosh I am totally a tent making gal!! It was one of our rainy day activities while growing up. My 3 sons made tents and now my 3 Grandchildren make tents, the boys call it a fort and my Granddaughter calls it a house, she makes a kitchen and bedroom all equiped with dishes, stove and reading light. Oh yes, I am tent making Mama!! xo Kathysue
ReplyDeletei loved building forts when i was a kid. we did it all the time. the easiest way? an open umbrella with a blanket over it. i remember our front yard in chicago being covered with blanket shrouded umbrellas! another ultimate fort was a broken down VW Bug in front of the neighbor's house. sounds super white trashy, but it was the 70s and wasn't at all. my own sons have a love affair with forts too. i think we're all somehow wired for them.

I have to admit I've never considered myself a tent kind-of-gal because I've always associated tents with camping and I won't tell you my opinion of camping in case there are dedicated outdoorsy types reading this post. Not that I'm not a nature lover, but I like to fall into a goosey down bed after my time in the woods. haha. However I do love these tents, especially the one from Shabby Chic Girls! I would love crawling inside it with a great book and reading under the covers with a flashlight and some chocolate :)

So cute and fun! I love girly tents!
ReplyDeleteMy brothers had bunk beds and we used to use sheets to enclose the bottom bunk like a tent. Thanks..I'm 52 now and haven't thought about that for years. :)
ReplyDeleteI know a little someone who would love your post, she is eight and she is a beautiful spirit, just like you. (Here's to beautiful and tranquil landscapes painted with only the noise of the soul.)
ReplyDeleteHi Michele
ReplyDeleteI am still on the islands with very little Internet access. I am worried because you have mentioned a diagnosis.. Hope things are okay.
I'll be home soon and will email you.

Yes! I was definitely a tent making kid. I loved to burrow down in a make shift tent of sheets draped over furniture in the family room. I never realized it was a form of stress relief until my daughter began to make tents and hide in them during a very difficult period in our lives. There is comfort inside a tent, a cocoon of security! Here's to making tents, Michele! Make yourself a glorious one in which to retreat and recover. Wishing you health and well being!
ReplyDeleteI love tents! And these are soooo wonderful. In fact i think I want a tent too! A pretty one with ribbons and flowers and twinkly lights. Makes me smile to even think of it...

How darn cute! I remember my girls pulling the dining chairs into the livingroom and draping them with sheets to pretend camping! Oh I miss those days!
