Personal Reflections + Sarah Richardson Decor Inspiration

May 23, 2013

Bonjour, peeps.

Hope this post finds you happy
and healthy.

I slept brilliantly last night and feel fierce.

Even though it's a busy time with graduation
and houseguests and various stressors,
we're feeling blessed and very peaceful
on the BRCA journey.

Not unlike the results of this project by
Sarah Richardson.

I love this woman, and call me whack on crack,
but I believe it's a magic wand she wields
in the image above.

update:

If there is anyone left in the blogosphere feelin pity for me
about the genetic cancer stuff and hearing Angelina Jolie's
story, SNAP OUT OF IT.
I'm so ready to move past this chapter.
I may be missing from blogland for a bit.

My grandma would have said of me today:
MA-SHAY-UHL IS FEELIN HER OATS.

The rare diagnosis, God's goodness, the journey,
and the discoveries have prospered and strengthened me.

Fully recovered from the first surgeries, I'm set
for the bilateral mastectomy and reconstruction which
begins June 13...I'm not crazy about the 'previvor'
label you may have heard floating around town.
Too confusing. A little gimmicky and soft for me.

Mine's a gentle soul, but I'm tough.
Am I a warrior?
Hmmmmm. Yes. With the upperhand in a battle.
Just an ordinary intellectual girl willing to
walk through some fire
to prevent cancers which have tortured
and proven deadly to my family.
AND I'M A SMILING WARRIOR
armed with hope and cute earrings,
which has got to just scare
the friggin devil out of cancer.

Peace to you right where you are.

  8. Dear Michele -
You are a warrior, indeed! I admire you on so many levels. Most importantly, your generosity and ability to share. I have been traveling, and only heard the news of Angelina today. Take care and enjoy the long weekend, my friend!

  10. Amazingly insightful story, if only it was as easy to implement some of the solutions as it was to scan and nod my head at each of your points ..

  11. Sarah has such a
    knack for making
    a house feel timeless,
    don't you think? I',
    smitten with her work,
    and her magic wand!

    As to you my warrior
    friend, wear your armor
    proudly. I just know that
    someday when there is
a cure for this beast called
    Cancer, we'll {or our
    descendants will} be amazed
    at the length people went
to beat it back. You are
    a pioneer on this journey
    towards a cure.

    Enjoy your family, the
    graduation {I'm in the
    same boat--family, grad
    party, graduation all
    swirling around me} and
    keep that fabulous spirit
    nurtured!

  17. Dear warrior....love Sarah.....she can do no wrong. I also feel bad for complaining about my stupid colonoscopy. I have never spent a minute in a hospital...no broken bones ( except for a toe!) no stitches....and shit like that scares the poop out of me. You are brave. You are my hero.
