Books: Tom Scheerer
September 02, 2013So much to admire about the brilliance of
Tom Scheerer designs.
Like how he is more than okay utilizing
inexpensive accents and the simplest of
fabrics (i.e. cottons and linens).
How he favors the a bit undecorated.
Slightly undecorated is subjective
for sure, but in the pages
of Mimi Read's Tom Scheerer Decorates
one can learn Scheerer's take on it.
He refers to this aspect of his style as
'underbaked,' and the more I ponder
that reference (shooing away all images
of gooey molten cakes and brownies!)
the more I realize it's what so many of us
creatives truly desire...

I'm so thrilled Tom Scheerer Decorates!
It hits the stands September 10th,
and I bet you'll love it like I do.

All of you design freaks know these next
beauties from Scheerer's beachy portfolio by heart,
but I don't care...they're still worthy with a capital W.
The geometry dazzles no matter
how many years ago this
space first blew up on the web.
Happy September, you crazy kids.
Peace to you right where you are.

Understated with room to breath.. Perfect! If things are too bright and busy it makes it difficult for me to relax and think. Looks like a wonderful book:)
ReplyDeleteI love the concept of 'underbaked' decorating. These are very pretty (and peaceful) rooms, thanks for sharing the book. It sounds wonderful.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful inspiration Michele!
ReplyDeleteDear Michele,
ReplyDeleteWhat a gorgeous post!!! Love all of this design!
Hugs,

I'm a big fan of underbaked, too, from chocolate chip cookies (the first thing that came to mind when I read the title of your post) to home decor. Overdone leaves no room for the imagination! I keep thinking my jenga stack of design books is getting out of control, but this one may need to be added anyway. Happy September! XO
