One of the most charming aspects of living where I do
in the Midwest is the summer fleamarketing!
Nellie's Barn Sale
is an annual must-attend for me
in the Rockford, Illinois area.
Many humble treasures from Nellie's
became mine the other day.
What did I buy?
Great big ol' heavy vintage laundry bag.
Faded-soft vintage American flag.
Galvanized pail with its old label attached.
Handmade round linen tablecloth.
What you'll find?
Galvanized everything.
Vintage textiles.
Painted tables and chairs.
Farmhouse style...and the unexpected!
A peek inside the barn.
How charming is the entrance?
Doris sort of steals the show, yes?
Two humans at a time shop inside Doris.
Nellie's is the brainchild of this lovely exuberant kindred spirit.
What a pleasure to visit my hometown heroes
of Rockford and share them with you!
Have a favorite summertime fleamarket destination?
Peace to you right where you are.
Shutterfly invited me to sample customized
lovelies from the shop in exchange for
an honest review I happily here of
a few of their resident designers.
Please enjoy the rare dose of color
(Hello Lovely's favorite color forever reigns white!)
and inspiration from the last post about
Shutterfly by Design
and
greet the easygoing perfectionism and lover of Shutterfly customization right here with designer Michelle Workman.
Workman wants us to express ourselves
artistically at home and explains how
Shutterfly makes it possible:
- Use accessories and art to tell your life story I love that I can use Shutterfly to tell the story of my family’s life, trips, beautiful vistas, and fun and happy moments together. They have such a wide array of product that you can use to creatively tell your story.
- Express yourself artistically whenever and wherever you can in your home, whether it is through, sewing, embroidery, painting, crafting, sculpture, woodworking or photography – bring “you” into your home to make it personal. Shutterfly helps with this – I had several images rolling around in my head for over two years and with Shutterfly I was finally able to express these images through photography.
Is it just me, or is the cobalt and indigo just teasing the
h of out of us?
- Layer colors I love to use the same color family in different depths and hues, it gives the eye a great deal of depth, without being busy.
- Your home and space should reflect your personality as much as possible, colors should speak to your general overall life mood, style and motif should speak to what aesthetic you are drawn to.
Whenever I have interviewed top designers or artists,
the discussion will lead to quality and the avoidance
of mediocrity, and this stylish lady is no exception:
- Always buy quality goodsWe live in a “throw-away” society. Think how your great great grandparents lived – they saved up for their furnishings so that what they purchased was of fine enough quality that it would be able to be passed down, creating a legacy for future generations but also practicing “green” before it was hip. Afraid of getting bored with your finely made pieces? You can refurbish or update these items with new finishes or fabrics every ten years, saving money, the environment, and allowing you maximum creativity.
You're gonna have to take my word for it,
but I am typing these words in a maxi dress
quite similar to Michelle Workman's above...
rich saturated colors lift the mood and stimulate
appetites for fun and adventure, yes?
If you haven't popped over to Shutterfly
yet, get poppin' and ready to take your
imagination for a ride with
endless artful possibilities
for your home.
Peace to you right where you are.
Hello Lovely at times partners
with companies I love and think may interest you.
It's Greet's fault.
She shared an image of Paul in the 60's
on Facebook the other day which made
my eyes pop out of their sockets and a
dreamy internet unearthing revealing more
stunning snaps of this handsome actor.
Right?
Aren't you glad you popped over here today?
Yer welcome.
Good gracious, I love that sassafras midlife sass.
See...I'm always gonna blog what I want,
when I want, how I want, and today I want
PAUL with a side of Joanne because
life is a tad stressful offline
and just too short to
post only pics of
white rooms
or French
skincare.
Diggin it?
Peace to you right where you are.
My friends and family all know I have been
obsessing about buying a vintage Airstream for months.
So I can't get enough of seeing what ambitious
trailer lovin' creatives do to restore them.
Would you, could you,
deck out an Airstream?

Isn't all the natural wood a nice contrast with
the modern contemporary sexy metal?
Peace to you right where you are.
