You're in for quite a lovely treat with
this tour of 20 Pamela Pierce Designs dining rooms!
Houston designer and editor of Milieu magazine,
Pamela Pierce has been inspiring us for years
to mix modern with old world, carefully accessorize
with over-scaled meaningful objects,
fearlessly live with white linen and French
everything, and achieve a serene airy touch.
A great big French biot jar filled
with white roses? Oversized antique
sconces from Italy? Christian Liaigre linen
slipcovers? 18th century French fireplaces?
These are a few of her favorite things
and often a tip-off the design is hers.
You'll notice an absence of pattern
(except maybe the occasional checked
upholstery from years past)
which keeps the mood quiet, dreamy,
and calm...which is just what this blogger wants
to come home to after being bombarded
with stimulation and saturated noisy life
beyond the interior quietude of our
peaceful fixer upper.
Interiors designed by Pierce and those
spotlighted in her magazine Milieu are
always timeless, tranquil, and sophisticated
with a certain edginess and restraint
appearing effortless.
With so many of you, I have deeply enjoyed
watching Pam's own interiors evolve over the
years as the designer
"got tired of gathered skirts and gray paint"
and lightened up the palette and the mood.
Her designs elicit a sigh and a smile
and always somehow surprise me a little.
Since furniture is frequently arranged informally
for conversation, and though her spaces contain
important antiques and art, her rooms remain
approachable and refuse to show off...such a coup
calls for design intelligence and wisdom from
decades of personal and professional growth.
Today, I have gathered a collection of glorious
dining rooms designed by Pamela Pierce
(I tried to be thorough in my research, but since the
internet is not peerlessly reliable, please forgive
and let a sister know if she's made an error).
Most of the photography is by the extraordinary
Peter Vitale, with many images appearing in
Veranda, Milieu, and Southern Accents magazine.

Notice the softness of the drapery near the
opening to the kitchen.
I could sit here all day with these French doors
open, the light pouring in...I think the floors
are reclaimed (very old) Chestnut.

As I mentioned earlier, Pam's interiors
have evolved over the years, and I'm
so happy they have since we are treated
to multiple versions of romantic lovely.
