Swedish farmhouse style has a homey,
timeless quality that is so refreshing to
my eyes and spirit...especially at Christmas
when fresh greenery and simple (and often handmade)
decorating elements are a magical combination.
I'm sure my love of white comes from my
Scandinavian heritage, and you may know that
the light is very important since
daylight is very limited in winter.
Today in Stockholm, for example, the sunrise
came at 8:30 and the sun set at 2:30!
Bring on the candlelight,
the white painted everything,
the fresh garlands and wreaths,
the casual and country furnishings,
the bare wood floors, and the
uncluttered spare look I love.
I hope to bring you an update on the fixer upper
this week since we were able to install a few doors
and shutters, and are in the home stretch
(at the busiest time of year!!!).

37.
I love how the Scandinavians use black for contrast.
38.
I wonder why we think our greenery needs to look full
and perfect when feathery and imperfect works too.
Some color to wake you up!
