Rustic Decor Inspiration: Montmoreau Castle
January 10, 2011
Fall in love
with a castle.
Fall in love with
MONTMAREAU!
Rustic stone
and neutral paradise.
Putty, grey, beige, honey...
and the golden warmth of wood.
Fresh flowers
would be welcome
here.
What a fabulous
blank slate to begin with!
Montmoreau Castle
(circa 1453)
is in Charente, France
and is presently
being restored.
Photos were taken by
Jean-Pierre Gabriel.

So how would you decorate the castle?
Peace to you right where you are.

M,
ReplyDeleteHow are you feeling today? I hope you're better.
Wow! What a place! I love how they did it.. it's minimal and it doesn't "fight" with the architectural beauty of this place.
Gorgeous... I'd do something similar to it.

It'd be strange having a house that you couldn't really add your own stamp to. It would puts *its* stamp on you!!
ReplyDeleteI guess you'd have to be madly in love with the whole 'chateau' look!!! Errr....that's not hard!

My mother grew up in the castle of Montmoreau until she came to the United States in 1948. I use to hear stories about the Germans occupying part of the castle during the war. I know sh would be thrilled to know that it was being renovated.
