Books: LADUREE {6 sweet secrets}

November 10, 2011

Laduree: The Sweet Recipes
Laduree: Sucre The Recipes
by Andrieu, Philippe (2011) Hardcover

I was a macaron virgin until 2 springs ago
when I baked some because we don't have a single
bakery in town, Paris is like expensive,
and I am a somewhat naive fearless baker.

Everywhere you turned in blogland
was one more sexy photo of a colorful macaron
and the celadon green facade of:

an elegant Paris pastry house.

With the opening of
Maison Laduree
in NYC,
the probability this blogger
will nibble Laduree yum
improves considerably!

On to sweet secrets!

Un.
Laduree made the pastries for the film
Marie Antoinette.

Deux.
Laduree is famous for double decker macarons
and sell 15,000 daily.

Trois.
Louis Ernest Laduree was a prolific writer.

Quatre.
Laduree's grandson Pierre Desfontaines
had the brilliant idea of opening a TEA ROOM
in 1930, which was a hit with women
(who at that time were not admitted to cafes!).

Cinq.
The international development of Laduree
began in 2005 with London.

Laduree: The Savory Recipes
Six.
Laduree's chef Michel Lerouet
shares his best in a NEW BOOK
Laduree: The Savory Recipes
(photography by Sophie Tramier)
revealing 100 of the most famous
Laduree recipes.
Omg. So beautiful I don't wanna
touch the pages without gloves.

Laduree: The Sweet Recipes
Laduree: Sucre The Recipes by Andrieu, Philippe (2011) Hardcover

Aching to get my paws on
Laduree: The Sweet Recipes
by Phillipe Andrieu
which features SECRETS of
their magical macarons.
Wouldn't a tray of holiday macarons
be tres lovely this year?

Which do you crave more...savory or sweet?

Peace to you right where you are.

  24. Oh this is the most gloriously lovely post EVER!! Just the thing for an overcast autumn day - thinking of gorgeously beautiful macaroons...mmmm!

I know you can get them in Covenant Garden in London but sadly, I've never tried them! I'll have to have a look at your recipe because the thought of serving these little beauties at Christmas... oh perfection.

Hope you are well, my dear and enjoying your weekend xxx

  25. I am not a Macaron girl at all. But I would happily enter that establishment and just sit down and take everything in! And I would order a dozen just so I get to walk home with a stunning box!

    Very pretty post.
