Decor Inspiration: 42 Modern Farmhouse Kitchens {Part 1}

My obsession with modern farmhouse style and
modern farmhouse kitchens can be traced back thirty years
ago when I was a newlywed, and we bought a Swedish
farmhouse table for our very first apartment's kitchen.
Since then, I have designed and decorated many
kitchens in the various places we have lived in
the heartland and gateway to the South, from a
turn of the century real farmhouse to a 1920's bungalow
to three brand new builds to a sorry fixer upper
and most recently a Mediterranean cottage...
infusing all of these kitchens with the European
inspired, timeless, and country farmhouse style
I find so easy to live with and love.
Most of my early kitchens were tiny so when
we moved into our first spacious home 20 years ago,
we commissioned a craftsman to create a
farmhouse kitchen table our family uses to this day.
It is 7' long and made of reclaimed pine barn wood,
and I cannot tell you how well it has served
our family...homework, folding laundry, meetings,
and a whole lot of entertaining friends and family.

Another farmhouse element I introduced in our kitchen
is an apron front farm sink (Reinhard fireclay sink)
which I learned about when Brooke and Steve Giannetti
were building Patina Farm...I put the very same sink in
our kitchen!

| The Giannetti kitchen at Patina Farm is one for the books and definitely my favorite modern farmhouse kitchen with its simplicity and rustic refined wholesomeness. |
