My Shop: Prayer Bracelets & guest post
May 23, 2012
There will be more cake.
Oh.
There will be more...but first
a few littles new in the shop.
Oh.
There will be more...but first
a few littles new in the shop.
I sewed a couple vintage religious medals
(amulets) with linen thread to
comfy newish stretchy bracelets.
They are feminine.
They create a reminder to pray,
to hope, to get over ourselves.
bracelet
Also, wouldn't they be perfect
for a bride?
I learned I am not a natural at sewing,
but I wanted to take a small risk
and join the old with the new
for a blended creation.
I know I'll get better.
bracelet
Inspired by some of my old chaplet bracelets
I don't wear for style, but to which I
occasionally cling when grieving
or considering a serious matter.
bracelet
These are that sort of bracelet.
Not necessarily for blinging.
necklace
But for clinging.
Th piece above is a necklace and is old through and through.
A vintage amulet joined with an old aurora borealis necklace.
rosary
This rosary in the shop is probably circa 1980's,
and I can't seem to collect enough of
these to drape over a candlestick,
a lamp...it's endless really.
another view of the rosary
another greiege prayer bracelet
Thanks for peeking at my shop...
if you care to catch glimpses of my home,
Stacey (one of my favorite Chicagoland bloggers!)
is featuring it right here today.
Would love to have you visit over there.
Peace to you right where you are.

The bracelets are so pretty. I understand the addiction to the old rosaries. I pick them up at the brocantes constantly. They are just too pretty to leave behind!
ReplyDeleteHave a great remainder of the week!
So delicate and lovely--the rosary is especially beautiful, such a personal piece. Would be perfect for bride! Thanks for lovely comment today-it means so much to me! xxBarbara

Those are lovely - I agree, perfect for a bride, or perhaps a daughter going off to college (or maybe better for a worried Mom :)). I'm off to check out your home feature!
ReplyDeleteThese are so precious. Love the old joined with the new -- which would make them perfect for a bride. Just got back from Stacey's and love, love, love your home. Love the white, the chandeliers, and that it reflects you. Gorgeous! And how did I miss the CAKE post. Delicious. XO
ReplyDeleteSweet and sublime no matter the artist' sewing ability. I am doing the same with some very old tarnished rosaries....marrying them with some very old creamy faded pearls and other. Visited Stacey and your gorgeous home. Such a treat. :)

Michele these are so beautiful, not just in the way they look but the sentiment in which you made them. I love your little sentence about not just for blinging but for clinging. Happy Thursday sweet friend, xo Kathysue
