Decor Inspiration: Pamela Pierce Designs {Part 1}

Maybe you noticed it has been quite the
Pamela Pierce Designs
LOVEfest lately on Hello Lovely,
and yes, thank you kindly,
traveling to the ends of the
interwebs seeking
feminine French inspired
interiors from the
founding editor of Milieu magazine
makes me as happy as a clam at high tide.
Pourquoi?
Her spaces simply sing.
They do.
A lilting melody flows from a tender tonal palette
while a rich harmony develops and deepens
with the refined and rustic notes.
Her orchestrations appear
nearly effortless yet every
trained ear knows the
maestro draws
upon years of
lessons,
practice,
and
experience.
There is another layer of Pamela Pierce's work
which moves me to admire it all the more, and
it's the spirit behind the visionary designs.
What a lovely spirit.
Here's a secret.
Pam called me a couple of years ago
at a time darkness had been set
before me, and I found myself
slipping from the mountaintop.
You know that shadowy place.
She encouraged and inspired me.
She revealed her heart.
She joined me in the valley
(perhaps unknowingly), and
I'm not sure anything is quite
so lovely as a kindred spirit willing
to join you in the depths.
I share this because at this very moment,
I find myself
in a literal desert valley of Arizona
where both parents struggle with illness,
surgeries, and distressing medical options.
We have surely been low for weeks now,
but surely not overcome.
Because it's in these shadowy places
of vulnerability where we
lean on grace,
trust in faith,
and discover
hidden wholeness
in our broken places.
Do you pray?
Oh please whisper for us, friends.
We're a lovely mess here in the gutter,
but we are gazing up at trustworthy stars.
Maybe you have already sensed it.
Curating lovely
in design projects, art, music,
and the creative life is more than
a hobby to distract from troubles...
rather, it is an integral part of my
soul's journey toward
healing and restoration.
Is the valley also your home at the moment?
You're in good company, truly.
I'd love to share an encouraging word
to lift your gaze higher, and if you
were here in Arizona with me,
my hand would tenderly brush
your cheek and my lips
would tell you that
you are loved and chosen.
Because you are
(and girlfriend is maternal like that).
A 16th century Puritan Prayer called
THE VALLEY OF VISION
shared by one of my spiritual mentors
has soothed and comforted me
over the years, and just now,
it feels harmonious
with the understated singing
designs of Pam Pierce which follow
if only because it's a prayer of antiquity
breathing with fresh, new, courageous hope.
I wonder what beauty might come
to earth if we begin simply to practice
hopefulness just a bit more boldly?
(You already know that God language is a part of
my spiritual milieu, and should it disinterest
or trigger hurt for you, I ask your forgiveness
in advance because I honor your path
of wisdom, however it may vary from
the contemplative one I travel.)
My family and I prayed this together
last week, and it has nurtured us.
The Valley of Vision
Lord, high and holy, meek and lowly,
Thou has brought me to the valley of vision,
where I live in the depths but see thee in the heights;
hemmed in by mountains of sin I behold
Thy glory.
Let me learn by paradox
that the way down is the way up,
that to be low is to be high,
that the broken heart is the healed heart,
that the contrite spirit is the rejoicing spirit,
that the repenting soul is the victorious soul,
that to have nothing is to possess all,
that to bear the cross is to wear the crown,
that to give is to receive,
that the valley is the place of vision.
Lord, in the daytime stars can be seen from deepest wells,
and the deeper the wells,
the brighter
Thy stars shine;
Let me find Thy light in my darkness,
Thy life in my death,
Thy joy in my sorrow,
Thy grace in my sin,
Thy riches in my poverty
Thy glory in my valley.
Thanks for showing up to this blog, friends.
Thanks for keeping me in your prayers.
You're in mine.
Time to bask in the lovely tranquil glow of
Pamela Pierce goodness.
