10 Decorating Ideas From a Chic Paris Apartment

Do you dream of capturing the charm
of a Paris apartment for your own home?
Today we'll explore decorating ideas
from an inspiring Paris apartment for rent.
I haven't been back to Paris since 2012, when
we lived luxuriantly like royalty
for the first part of our visit,
checking into the "Paris palace"
designated Park Hyatt Paris Vendome.
(I know. I know. Did you see my Ritz post?
Not even the Ritz has the "palace" designation...
YET...surely this year!)
Then we rented a gorgeous apartment in the Latin Quarter
near Notre Dame for a week of living like Parisians
where we prepared simple meals, people watched
from our Juliet balconies, and explored the streets
and sites on foot.
Both experiences were sensual feasts,
and I couldn't recommend
one over the other since each lends
itself to Paris discovery in a unique way.
We rented the apartment through Haven In,
a boutique rental agency with properties in
Paris, Provence, London and Tuscany.
Today we're escaping to one of
Haven In's exclusive Paris apartments,
and perhaps it will inspire ideas
to inject French effortless beauty
into our own homes.
This apartment offered by Haven In is situated in an
exclusive neighborhood in the 16th arrondissement,
and I admire the decor's understated elegance...
it is more sensible chic than glitzy glammy.
The property is described this way:
"Close to the chic shopping of avenue Victor Hugo, the Trocadéro and its gardens, and an easy walk to the Arc de Triomphe, you will find this Paris apartment to be the ideal stepping stone for enjoying the City of Light in the most stylish and authentic of ways or as the perfect home for business travelers during an extended Paris stay. The professionally decorated apartment provides a family-friendly environment that is both comfortable and luxurious in its classical Parisian decor."
Let's tour and soak up inspiration from this elegant rental.

Right away, my eye is drawn up,
and the moldings take my breath away.
I'm reminded that when space is at a premium,
it's the attention to those architectural details
that make all the difference...what's more,
it's less costly to deck out smaller rooms
with trims and decorative paneling so
there's a bonus for small rooms!

Who can resist warm wood flooring laid
in a classic herringbone pattern which the
Scandinavian girl in me finds dynamic
and too beautiful to cover up with rugs.
Doesn't it feel airy and clean without floor coverings?

The addition of these bedside mini spotlights are a
thoughtful design choice for nighttime reading, and
I love how unobtrusively they work in the space.

This petite bistro set can do double duty inside
and out on the balcony, and why not
create a little Paris cafe moment in
a corner of your own home
since they are so inexpensive
and are stored easily?
(I just bought a set for our Arizona getaway
that I placed outside, but now I'm
dreaming about painting it and
trying it in the kitchen.)

I'm struck by how much I love the palette of
white, putty, and blush which for me
is creating a magical harmony
and calm in this bathroom.

Oh, the vintage doors!
A beautiful door makes me feel woozy,
and I wonder why we don't invest more
attention and budget to doors here in
the states where we often settle for disposable.
The addition of quality crafted
rustic wood doors to our renovation here
has surely added much lovely to
the everyday.

I love a dining room fireplace,
and even though they may no longer
be necessary for warming the room,
the glow and sound of a crackling fire
must add so much romance
to dinners by the fire.

An elegant settee in a hallway or entry
elevates those spaces and provides a
functional perch but also beauty
in a place that is so often devoid
of it.

I was surprised by how much I admired this bedroom
with its twin beds without headboards, and I had to
study it for a moment to decide why it worked for me.
Comfortable, fluffy duvets and all that Paris
light streaming through French doors...I suppose
there's no need for much else!

I love all the doors throughout this beautiful
Paris apartment as they add so much interest
and character open or shut.
Modern floorplans and construction so often
entail opening spaces to create loftiness,
yet there is something to be said for
defining spaces traditionally.
If you are prepared to rent this chic Victor Hugo
property in Paris, do tell Haven In Hello Lovely sent you.
At $713 nightly, it's beyond my price range,
yet if sharing the 3-bedroom with a
few companions...the rate becomes
more realistic, oui?
A bit more Paris apartment lovely to inspire...

We have always stayed on Isle Saint Louis in the heart of Paris and used guestapartment.com. Also used their limo service to and from the Paris airport. What we liked about them is that they speak English and we found comfortable trust in working with them. We have heard horror stories about deposits that disappeared and apartments that were horrible so we were leary the first time. We now feel very comfortable using Guest Apartment and would recommend them. We have done studios and one bedrooms to keep the cost down as we are out sightseeing all day long.
ReplyDeleteThanks for this review, Colleen! I will keep them in mind. The apartment we rented from Haven In was wonderful, spotless, and came with a friendly English speaking American to check us in and get us settled so I feel comfortable recommending them. xox
