As promised, I'm sharing some "before and after"
redesign magic from the modern farmhouse in
Connecticut of One King Lane's president
Debbie Propst...here's the full scoop on
the decorating idea inspiration I came
up with after seeing this project
you missed it.
One King's Lane is not just an online source
for furniture and home décor items, they also
offer design services with a team known as
The Studio, and you can now meet one-
on-one with a designer for a consult.
For OKL's president, the Studio
reimagined "a tasteful (but tired) 60-year-old
property into a contemporary showcase...
Designed by Royal Barry Wills, a 20th-century
architect who specialized in Cape Cod structures,
the farmhouse-style home already had good bones
and plenty of character. The challenge?
Modernizing the interiors to suit the needs
of a growing family without sacrificing
the home's original details and charm."
I loved seeing the reimagined modern farmhouse,
but I think it's even more helpful to see where
it began, so let's take a look at the
before and after interior design story
of this beautiful midcentury home.

In the "before" of the kitchen's dining/breakfast
been painted, and while the room already
looks gorgeous with its good bones,
look what happens when it gets updated...

I love the cheeriness the pool blue striped
rug adds, and those mirrors!

a child-sized table set.

The kitchen was a beauty even before the
makeover with its rugged oak cabinetry
and spacious work areas.

Just look what fresh white paint can do!

The open shelving in a corner of this kitchen
is one of my favorite features that was
already there, and it's incredible how
much it was dressed up after
painting it.
