Modern Decor Inspiration: Chicago Apartment {john ansehl}

July 30, 2014

We have been house shopping,
and although this home is close to my
husband's work headquarters, it is way way
out of the budget (but pretty perfect for me!).

A spacious lovely 1922 apartment
designed by John Ansehl...take a peek.

Too chilly for you?
Cuz I could move right in!

Peace to you right where you are.

  1. We live in a spacious pent house apartment of 2.800 square foot, or 280 square meters... this gorgeous one you are showing here looks huge! How many square feet is it, I'm curious?
I always wonder if an 'all white' interiors is really practical, I'm always cleaning very pale yellow upholstery, lol!

  2. HOLY COW, as they say in Chicago! Yes, I'm from Chicago's Lincoln Park neighborhood. Sadly, I left to move to Arizona and miss it every day.
Thank you for such lovely photos of this amazing home.

  6. It's gorgeous (and in a great
    location) and it's white, but
I don't think it has the cozy
    factor that I associate with
    you, beautiful friend! How
dreamy to be in a position
    to be looking, though! Three
    more years for us.....

  7. There is nothing else I'd add to this. It just downright gorgeous. But tell you what? I think your home was pretty fabulous too. Why move to an apartment Mich? Here I am tired of apartment living :)

    1. we're not leaving because we are unsatisfied with the house. something small and charming w/ less maintenance prob makes more sense for this stage of our life. :) thanks, roy.

  8. WOW!!!! This is one GORGEOUS apt.....no room for crayons or markers there, does that mean I would have to give up my spaghetti or pizza binges! I must say its beautifully done, I love that gorgeous office space, talk about wanting to feel more productive if you were cocooned in a space that beautiful......just spectacular!! White does it every time!

    1. not sure if that apartment gets much use but this is why i have to blog about living with white from a personal and realist (not defensive) perspective. we have lived with a white scheme for decades and with 3 men. not scary or daunting. i would be MORE of a fretful wreck without it in my life because i get overstimulated. our son knocked a glass of red over on the linen Copenhagen chair in the living room on xmas eve. no one was injured or sent to therapy or greeted by coal in their stocking. you just clean it up. we have never owned a pet who sheds though. that could be tough living with white. mechanics with an aversion to showering may take issue. folks with jam-smearing compulsions..crimson and plums would be more appropriate. for a certain sector i suppose white is ridiculous. know what i can't imagine? living with 'forgiving' prints that camouflage stains and pen marks and crusty residue. the thought of dirt unseen living on for years makes me nutty. .

    2. Ha! This really made me laugh, Michelle. I would love to be brave enough to decorate with all white some day, but I think I need a little more color to thrive. I cracked up at your last line, though--never really thought about that. And now I will be taking my slipcovers to the dry cleaners. :)
