achieving an artful mix of pillows:
How to Mix and Match Pillows!

While it may seem intimidating at first, mixing and matching patterns is so much more fun than sticking with just one. Here are a few tips to inspire your choices!

Start With Proportion: Decide the size that best suits your space first. On a standard sofa 3 or 5 pillows is a good place to start. A 20”x20” pillow is almost always a good fit and can be mixed with an assortment of sizes. Try rectangle pillows from a casual composition, or go with squares in a different size for a more traditional look.

Pick a Palette: Next decide on color! Color has the ability to drastically change the mood. New to pattern? Opt for tonal and textural prints. A monochromatic color palette always works. If you want something bolder, start with one multi-colored design and pull out the other colors from within this print.

Switch It Up: You'll get the most interest if you change up the scale of the prints you mix. Start with an assortment of large, mid, and small scale prints.

Just between you, me, and the world wide web...
are you a pillow hoarder? A pillow snob?

Peace to you right where you are.

  1. All great advice. I would say I am almost a pillow hoarder, my hubby would say I am definitely a pillow hoarder, but he doesn't understand the needs we have, LOL
