Les Grands Ateliers de France is to be honored
as a top tier master with a passion for
the arts, attention to detail, and a desire to
preserve French cultural heritage.
What if we were invited to peek inside
the ateliers of those masters?
Ahhhhhh, but we are.
Author Jean Bergeron and Catherine Laulhere
extend this invitation in their dreamy book
(Thames and Hudson, 2013)
which showcases masterful French artisans
devoted to restoration and preservation.
In 1993,
Le Grand Ateliers de France was formed by
Jean Bergeron and Laurence Bonnet
to promote expertise, ethics and respect.
Members are selected in secret by their peers,
and there are now 68 masters representing
more than 90 different craft disciplines.
In Master Artisans, we meet engravers,
printmakers, cabinetmakers, upholsterers,
weavers, jewelers, and more, all of whom
produce one-of-a-kind or limited editions
of the highest quality.

and simply a glory to behold.
Artisans featured inside the book include bookbinder
Jacky Vignon, harpsichord maker Reinhard von Nagel,laquerworker Catherine Nicolas, and maker of
