Books: Vincent Van Duysen {Complete Works}

July 08, 2016

I am spending quality time with my copy of
(Thames & Hudson, 2010)
and cannot help but be drawn into the world
of this cult figure in international architecture
and design (who somehow feels like a kindred
spirit of the most noble simplicity to me).

More of his work can be seen in my post here.

This collection of Van Duysen's work
presents a series of exquisite homes born
from the brilliance of a passionate soul.

Van Duysen assumes a refined approach,
honoring natural materials to emotionally evoke
what so many contemplatives long for in life amid chaos:
c a l m.

Pages of this volume enlighten readers to more than
thirty of Van Duysen's projects,
captured with sensual luminosity in
photographs by Alberto Piovano.

I have opened my own copy to share with you a few glimpses,
but if you are a design/architecture collector like me,
your library needs the gift of this book.

No quantity of pretty words or images
could truly do justice to this designer who
shuns ornamentation, so in the spirit of
Vincent Van Duysen,
I will simply say
peace
to you
right where you are.
