Fashion Inspiration: Ballerinas in Erika Cavallini for Vogue Italy

For a tribute to Deborah Turbeville a few years back,

this editorial shoot for Vogue Italy featured young ballerinas

wearing Erika Cavallini Semi-Couture (AW 2014/15)

at the Circolo della Stampa de Milano.

Photography by:

Vivienne Bellini

Cristina Coral

Mattia Leonardi

Monia Merlo

and Julia Morozova.

The feminine, romantic, quiet, and graceful mood

is bound to charm and inspire you...

But first.

A wonderful new blog follower emailed me

yesterday asking about the significance of pointe

shoes to me personally since she couldn't

find a related post.

I explained to her that while I was never too

successful at ballet (I was always a better musician

than dancer), my dead pointe shoe collection

is about admiration for the feminine strength

and grace involved in this beautiful art form.

When I started Hello Lovely, you may remember

my header photo which featured a ballerina

in pointe shoes, jeans, and vintage jewelry.

Remember my blog header!?!

The ballerina is not me, and in fact,

my sister Jo and I shot her senior pictures

and styled her in my clothes and bling

at our French Country home which had

all that amazing natural light.

Behold! The real ballerina in the pointe shoes I shot for my blog header.

I step into my pointe shoes just for fun

photo shoots like this one to capture

a romantic, ethereal vibe.

On with the tribute!

28 Pinterest-Worthy Inspiring Beautiful Staircases {Decor Inspiration}

Beautifully designed and inspiring staircase - Found on Hello Lovely Studio

1. Staircase Pinterest Inspiration: Beautiful Staircase Ideas

Don't you love it when an artfully designed

staircase becomes much more than a functional

way up or down?

Visually graceful, sculptural, and architecturally

interesting, staircases are often overlooked

as a means to make a memorable personal statement

to be enjoyed every single day for many years, and

the reason is quite clear: it aint easy.

The structural plans alone can be daunting.

So when extra care and attention is given to

the design and materials for creating a

masterful staircase...oh, my, what

wondrous results may emerge.

Here are 26 examples of inspiring staircases,

plenty of them luxury fantasy-types we are

unlikely to replicate (don't you dare send me

a ranting email about how it's silly

I post these unattainable architectural

wonders...dude, Hello Lovely is always

going to deliver fair doses of fantasy!),

but all of them reminders

that while the engineering of the stairs

reigns important, the extra mastery

injected into the aesthetics makes life

more beautiful and more abundant.

Meet me at the finish line and let me know

which staircase is your favorite!

Onward.

2. Staircase Pinterest Inspiration: Beautiful Staircase Ideas

What kills me about the image above is that this
entry's proportions are just about identical to the
entry in my own cottage, and to see what reclaimed
wood, oversized doors, delicate iron and limestone
could do makes me nutty! We even have that
window you see in the stair landing, only ours
has colonial trim and a fan window above it...boo.

3. Staircase Pinterest Inspiration: Beautiful Staircase Ideas

Now that's plain fun.

4. Staircase Pinterest Inspiration: Beautiful Staircase Ideas

Here's the thing about open stair risers.
They totally work in this minimalist space
above, but the carpeted ones in our fixer upper
looked ridiculous paired with the traditional
décor and finishes around them...in most cases,
you cannot simply combine all of your
favorite architectural elements (colonial trim,
open stair risers, and '70s shag carpet, for example)
and expect them to work eclectically.

This masterful staircase is the work of Giannetti Home,

This Giannetti Home masterpiece is one of my alltime favs!

If you love a French-inspired, delicate wrought

in my friend Desiree's former home I wrote
about in this story.

{Home Tour} Rustic Modern Vintage Apartment in New York

Rustic modern kitchen in apartment with vintage style by Zio & Sons - found on Hello Lovely Studio

Rustic Modern Vintage Chic Home Tour

I stumbled on this this rustic, modern, vintage chic
1910 New York apartment via Remodelista,
and its imaginative loveliness hails from
Anthony D'Argenzio of the creative agency
Zio & Sons!

One of the details which drew me in
were the warm rustic wood doors
paired with snowy white walls
which is what we did here at
the fixer upper with knotty alder.

Here are some of the secret ingredients within
this apartment home which oozes with character
and sings with rustic modern slow living wonder:

Beadboard Ceilings
White Walls (Benjamin Moore Simply White)
Painted Trim (Benjamin Moore Harwood Putty CW-5)
Reclaimed barn wood shelving
Natural linen upholstery
Locally Sourced Furnishings
Handmade & Handcrafted Objects
Custom Blue-Gray Venetian Plaster
(Master of Plaster)
White Terracotta Glazed Tile Backsplash
(Cle Tiles)
Country Farm Sink (Zaborksi's)
Vintage White Range
Vintage Sink Consoles
Vintage Brass Bed
Vintage Pendant Lights
Vintage Clawfoot Tub
(painted pink!)

Design: Zio & Sons
Photography: Martyn Thompson

One of my favorite parts of deconstructing
a creatively designed apartment is that
there are always lessons in small space
decorating to be learned, and this
project is no exception.

D'Argenzio commissioned a small
rustic wood sectional with upholstered
cushions for this little reading nook,
and well, I think it's a stroke of genius.
Have a peek...
