Books: Country Style & Design {Justin Bishop}

August 03, 2012

The author of
Country Style and Design (Images Publishing, 2012),
Justin Bishop, is busy restoring a time-worn
cottage in a picturesque Australian town.

omg...these two pages just grabbed me like nobody's business.

Bishop's signature 'country style' will undoubtedly
grace that property if his new charming book
is any indication.

He shares his thoughts on English, French,
American, and Australian country design styles.

Along with stunning photography,
his commentary shines:

"Traditionally, country style harks back to an era that appears quieter when viewed from today's world. A time before modern machine technology and mass production; when function came before form; and form held a graceful simplicity and an elegant charm, as well as being predominantly useful."

Hold a soft spot in your heart for a country style?

Peace to you right where you are.

  4. Hi Michele, great post....and a very clever man. I have the book...had to have it the minute I heard it was out as I have followed Justin for years...have lots of tear outs from magazine articles showing his present home and his previous home. He has a blog...it's on my sidebar...not that he updates often, but there are some lovely photos of his house on his earlier posts. The environment he lives in is gorgeous...up a mountain, not far from our Melbourne home...a lovely spot for a visit to eat, shop or just take in the gorgeous fern gullies and bushland. Robx
