Personal Reflections: Passions and Vanities

January 27, 2012

Recently I was contacted by the organizers
of Chicago's lovely
Randolph Street Market
(quality vintage finds in a chic setting)
to explore this year's winter theme which is
Passions & Vanities.

It's true I'm a simple girl with a passion
for simple things, but they aren't small things...

1.
Children.
Not just my own.
I worked with kids for a decade as an academic tutor
and before that I taught preschool and cared for infants.

Children (and dogs!) are the best teachers ever.

2.
Handmade
Whether it's a card, a fuzzy wool sweater, or jewelry.

3.
Words
Of encouragement, of faith, of humor, of truth.

Ya know?

4.
Beauty in the everyday.
When you actively seek it out, it's surprising
how much you can collect.

5.
Snuggly Linens
Okay, I know we're getting out of passion territory
now, but fresh white sheets and and duvets
are a little of heaven on earth for me.

6.
Feminine Accessories
*Cue Carly Simon*
More vanity!
Little touches of sparkle and
shine (even if it's simply lip gloss!)
are a mini celebration of woman-ness.

7.
Love
The most important passion of all because with it:
we find wings to fly us over rough patches.
We find meaning in every corner of the universe.
We can get over ourselves in order to see...

my panel, my photo

that which is truly lovely.

Be sure to bring your passions, vanities,
and cash to the Randolph Street Market
February 4-5, 2012!

Feelin saucy enough to share your own passions & vanities?

Peace to you right where you are.

  3. Passion is one word that others would use to describe me...passionate about fairness, keeping things simple, our planet earth, family, faith.

  9. Great post Michele... i love the photo of the hands... very powerful, i have my blingy sparkley pin you sent me, right smack in the middle of a straw hat i wear all the time... and i have about a gagillion pearls too...
i love the "you can", and the "no to bad things" I'll have to burn the "you can" in my brain when i'm having a panic attack and think i can't keep driving...
