Travel Inspiration: Paris Secrets: Les Orchidees Restaurant

November 08, 2012

Remember when I mentioned our first trip to Paris
was not going to be a visit about food?

Well...there were a few exceptions.
Like the posh Les Orchidees within the Park Hyatt.

Since the room rate included breakfast,
it was quite the treat..a buffet with
tres delicieux options!
About 42 euros per person.

I can't even tell you about how good the
pastries in France are...and the ham..
and brie...and just the best yogurt in
baby glass jars (I brought some home).

Also, I have never tasted a better apple juice or...

adorable mini bananas.

They may be Caribbean...we definitely don't
see them where I live.

I'm not gonna lie.
This is a very elegant place
to see and be seen.

So much incredible Paris light.

So the secret is out.
I highly recommend splurging on an incredible
breakfast within this exclusive palace property.
Keep your eyes open for celebrities, rockstars,
royalty, and moi...

  3. oops.. it's been a long day and I'm exhausted.. let's start again.

All this looks SO good Michele. When we were there, our experience "at the buffet" was similar. My plate looked like yours :) filled with all the yummy cheeses, fruits, smoked salmon, etc.. It was such a treat to not have to cook and have so many amazing dinning options.

Hope all is well .. and that you are carving out time to have a little fun.

  6. Michele you're killing me here! I agree with you about the yogurt in France some of the best I have ever had and it drives me batty that we can't get it here. We are definitely going to have to try this breakfast out next time we're in France. Thanks for the tip!

    Enjoy your weekend!

  7. Any place where croissants and cheese is a given for breakfast is a place after my own heart. Paris is the bomb...no where in THE WORLD do my senses come alive as they do there, on every street corner, with every step....I am just giddy over all the beauty and inspiration.
The food seems better, the flowers more beautiful, the colors more vivid, heck even rain there is more amazing! The city looks incredible when its shrouded in gray and drizzling....now I want to see it in the snow. Have been for summer and spring but never winter....hummmmmmmm. Now you have me dreaming:)

  9. 40+ Euros for breakfast... Ah, Paris. Some things never change. :-) On the bright side, you can probably skip lunch and spend more time shopping or sightseeing after this morning feast... I always bought yogurt in those cute little glass containers when I lived in Paris. I am homesick all of a sudden. Bon weekend! Veronique (French Girl in Seattle)

  12. i will be blogging more about the yogurt, debra. maybe the two of us can ignite a revolution in the states because i'm pretty passionate about my yogurt. at times in my life, it has kept me alive (with diet coke). i brought a dozen little jars and crocks home. have you seen the blue crocks????omg!

and i really tried to be on my best manners in this posh restaurant, but i'm telling you the croissant crumbs were everywhere. head to toe. hours later, my husband would be motioning for me to brush my cheek. how do you eat those properly?

    :)

  14. Michele,

I am not usually a breakfast person, when traveling I do love to treat myself and this would be so special! (and the reason I gained so much weight the last time in Europe!

  20. nothing beats breakfast in france, love the combinations! and the yogurt......you brought some home?!

    here is a simple recipe for european styled yogurt;
buy a large container of vanilla yogurt. must NOT be non-fat.
line a colander with coffee filters, put the yogurt inside colander. cover in plastic wrap and leave the yogurt over night in the fridge. you must have a container under the colander. in the morning, all the liquid will have drained into the lower container, what remains is thick, european styled yogurt, viola!
