Hotel Decor: 5 Victorian Townhouses in Notting Hill Became a Hotel

If you are anything like me, the first thing
you think of when you hear "Notting Hill" is
not an elegant boutique hotel called
The Laslett
(which comprises five gorgeous Victorian townhouses),
but rather the 1999 romantic comedy
starring Julia Roberts and Hugh Grant.

Know how the writer of that film, Richard Curtis
came up with the idea for Notting Hill, where he lived?
"When I was lying sleepless at nights I would sometimes wonder what it would be like if I just turned up at my friends’ house, where I used to have dinner once a week, with the most famous person at that time, be it Madonna or whomever...It all sprang from there ... That was the starting point, the idea of a very normal person going out with an unbelievably famous person and how that impinges on their lives."

Before we tour The Lastlett, let's
revisit a few favorite clips from Notting Hill:

Onward with the hotel tour.

The Laslett was created by Tom Bartlett and Living Rooms
and is inspired by Notting Hill's cultural heritage (the name
comes from Rhaune Laslett, who organized the original
Notting Hill Festival).

The interiors are modern and classic
with an eclectic range of artwork (curated by
Ben Kelway of Atlas Studio) so that the place
feels less hotel-like and more townhouse-like.

51 rooms at the Laslett are stocked with
a bar carrying full-sized bottles and snacks,
Penguin Classic books, and Neal's Yard Remedies.

Let's check out this sweet Notting Hill hotel.
