I listen to my audience...so please don't hesitate
to connect via the contact form or email...
and what I hear is this:
MORE GIANNETTI!
WE NEED MORE!
So MORE ye shall get,
and I have archival goodness from
this dream team just for you lovely tribesfolk.

Yesterday, I shared the before pics of our
Arizona fixer upper, and I'll be escaping there
the day after tomorrow for more prettying.

In that same fixer spirit, your Giannetti story du Jour
is one heck of a lovely RENOVATION.

What is it about a great transformation story that engages us so thoroughly anyway? I think it's that we all crave a little hope to keep moving forward and improving, and interior design renovations tap into that longing for beauty and restoration.

For creative types, that longing can be intense. (ahem)

One of my favorite before and after fixer upper stories is Brooke and Steve Giannetti's weekend getaway home in Channel Islands Harbor (Oxnard) which had a 1970s-tastic lava rock thing happening but tons of potential for greatness.

So much potential that this Oxnard Giannetti home landed in Veranda magazine in the summer of 2011 and still feels fresh today.

After the piece in Veranda ran, Brooke shared the fixer upper story on Velvet and Linen, and I have never forgotten it since it strengthened my courage to take on my own fixer upper(s) even without being an architect, designer, decorator, or shop owner...that's what the power of a good makeover story may pack!

Onward toward inspiration.

Note to Brooke:
THANK YOU KINDLY FOR POSTING ALL THOSE LOVELY FORLORN SHOTS OF THE HOUSE IN ITS BEFORE SHAPE, BECAUSE WITHOUT THEM, WE FEAST ON BEAUTIFUL DESIGN BUT DON'T NECESSARILY FEEL AS BUOYANT WITH HOPE AS WHEN WE RECEIVE THE COMPLETE DRAMATIC RENO PICTURE.

Are you knee deep in any reno, restoration, or fixer upper
project of your own (interiors or otherwise) at the moment?

I'd love to hear about it!

  1. Such a creative couple, love everything their hands touch.
I can't pick out a favorite or talk about a favorite because it would go on and one and my comment will run on and on.
Oh to breath in this home in person or any home they have remolded.
Michele, the stone wall and hearth reminds me of a wall and hearth I had in 1989-1995 same stone same look... Imwas so before the edge of painting stone but I did just that, painted it all white and all my friends followed suit. A little succo and block wall paint goes along way in a major tefresh and up style.

    See you soon

  2. Isn't it wonderful how a person can totally change the look of a space through such simple things as wall paint and fabric and of course texture? I love how every person's space has such individuality. I am in love with everything white accented with texture and this post expresses my personal style so wonderfully.
