Cottage Style Inspiration: English Cottage

March 20, 2011

Can we talk curb appeal?
And door straps?
And gables?

This is another one of those First Option
unique properties in England known as "schoolhouse"
offered for photo shoots, and it charmed me.

I love how when you step inside
it turns out not to be one of those dusty,
granny, cluttery places plastered with chintz...

it's lofty.

Loving the windows?

Okay, the counters ARE a little granny
clutterish, but now I'm believing
people live here, and it's not just
another photo shoot location.

Speaking of school, it's spring break
for ours...and this year we're traveling to...

THE GNARLY BASEMENT.

And by "we" I mean my husband!
But you already knew that.

It's not all beer and skittles here, ya know!
He's swingin the hammer, and I...
I've almost reached the ends of the internet...

I'll have some pics soon of the reno.
(we have electricity!).

Peace to you right where you are.

  3. Good morning Gorgeous!

Can't wait to see the pics of your basement!!! :-)

This is one of my fav posts you've done, M! Everything is amazing... yeah, that kitchen could use some help, but it still pretty good. The windows, the openness, and I love the 2 benches on the 1st picture. Great and cute idea.

    Have a wonderful Spring, sweetie!

  4. I think this is the nicest conversions that I've seen. Normally, you lose something of the beauty of the original building but here they somehow seem to have ADDED to it. It's GORGEOUS!! What a find!

....but where are the ladders to reach those top books? That's what I want to know!!

  6. Hello. I am new here and also your latest follower.
This place is amazing. The sheer dynamics of the room had me at first glance. Am a huge lover of natural light and needless to say there is plenty here.
Loving the exposed beams, the inviting energy and those endlessly tall bookcases. What would life be without books?!?

I was tossing with the idea to paint the window wood work glossy black. Would love the edge that would bring.

    Love love
