Swedish Farmhouse Christmas Decorating Interior Design

timeless quality that is so refreshing to
my eyes and spirit...especially at Christmas
when fresh greenery and simple (and often handmade)
decorating elements are a magical combination.

I'm sure my love of white comes from my
Scandinavian heritage, and you may know that
the light is very important since
daylight is very limited in winter.

Today in Stockholm, for example, the sunrise
came at 8:30 and the sun set at 2:30!

Bring on the candlelight,
the white painted everything,
the fresh garlands and wreaths,
the casual and country furnishings,
the bare wood floors, and the
uncluttered spare look I love.

I hope to bring you an update on the fixer upper
this week since we were able to install a few doors
and shutters, and are in the home stretch
(at the busiest time of year!!!).

  5. I love that you have posted recently on the topic of Swedish interiors and your heritage. Swedish furnishings is my passion in life - acquiring antiques, reproducing them, decorating with new and old pieces, visually drowning myself in every 2Die4 Swedish interior online and in books. Keep posting on this topic, please.

  6. Aaaahhhhh! So lovely. Makes me wonder why I didn't paint my dining chairs white sooner? Doesn't evergreen look great with white. It's funny that all this white doesn't feel cold. Just soothing. I can't seen to have that much color restraint.
    Merry Christmas, my Scandinavian friend!

    1. Merry Christmas, Mary Ann! It sure does. Now that I am using brighter, cooler whites in our new home, I find I do have to be careful about keeping things warm. Easier to make that happen with photography tricks!
