modern art whispering tranquility
September 27, 2012I am excited about getting together
with my baby sister Lisa (here in Arizona)
to paint together.
(My shop is stocked with low-priced
original paintings on canvas right now.)
I'll share pics of her Tuscan-style villa soon,
and what's fun is that her aesthetic is completely
different than mine, yet we both favor
modern art that whispers tranquility.
This is the painting I created for
Melaine of Sweet Savannah
to give away recently on her blog.
I don't stay in my head while painting.
I let them develop as they wish.
What I love about the process is a
complete absence of rules and restraints.
Anything is possible.
Including mistakes.
The trick is keeping the right ones.
What's also fun about abstracts is that once
in awhile I won't be happy with the result
until I discover I simply need to turn
the piece upside down.
Isn't that just like certain problems that surface?
We have to reframe. Turn them on their side.
Not give up. Get new eyes on them.
I am so grateful to friends Melissa, Jody, Beth, Lori,
and so many more who encouraged me to paint
during a chapter of my life when I faced more struggle
than ever before.
Now I have found: a place for peace,
a chance to get centered,
another opportunity spread love.
(Love that my quartz counters looks like sand.)
After years of displaying mainly prints,
I am now completely sold on living
with original art--not because I'm cognizant
solely of investment (which is def a perk)
but because of the depth and richness it
brings to my everyday life.
And I'm so happy to offer a few for you too.
Peace to you right where you are.

They're wonderful... I told you, you inspired me to paint in a similar way. I love the way each one is filled with different movement, and strokes of light, and that each captures that moment in the process with your hand and energy and spirit. Plus the colors are beautiful, earth and water... love it
