Personal Reflections & Cosmology {Lovely Finds}

Personal Reflections & Cosmology

I am about to like totally blow yer mind.
First, there is no interior design in today's lineup.
WHAT?

I know! I know!
That doesn't mean there won't
be lovely finds though...it'll just be
the divine cosmological variety
we can't score from One King's Lane.

Also in it for you?
Virtual fries.

Now and always...ZERO calories on Hello Lovely Studio.
I'm serving you a yummy order of virtual French Fries
in case astronomy lessons and philosophy
render you lethargic...so nibble on as many
as you like, but do stay with me.

Do you love learning about the cosmos?
I do.
I never tire of viewing new images
of galaxies, planets and stars from Hubble.

Southern Storms - via

My heart filled with wonder when I came across
this recent study which concluded the observable universe
contains ten times more galaxies
than we previously thought!

Ten times!

Jovian Cloud Tops - via

Wrap your lovely membranes around this...
A team gazed 13 billion years into the past
and discovered galaxies are not evenly distributed
throughout our universe's history.

There were 10 times more galaxies
per unit volume when the universe was just
a few billion years old compared with today.

This finding from Hubble is powerful
evidence that a significant evolution
has unfolded throughout the history of
the universe...an evolution during which
galaxies merged together, dramatically
reducing their total number.

Saturn - via

Learning 90% of the universe's galaxies
have yet to be studied and how all appear to be
drifting together (are they relational?)
sends my imagination soaring into orbit.

I don't know how your noggin processes
such scientific discoveries,
but mine immediately seeks
parallels in the physical
and
spiritual realms.

After all, we are made of the
very material "out there."

So often, we talk about nature as if it is
something separate from us.
Yet we ARE nature, and like the
little acorn which has fallen far from
the mighty oak, musing
"Dang, I wish I were that!"
we forget...
we ARE that.

Personal Reflections & Cosmology

Astrophysicist Karel Schrijver, a senior fellow
at the Lockheed Martin Solar and Astrophysics
Laboratory, and his wife, Iris Schrijver,
professor of pathology at Stanford University,
are authors of Living With the Stars
and explain how everything in us
originated in cosmic explosions
billions of years ago and how our bodies are in
a constant state of decay and regeneration.

My fascination with the expanding universe
beyond us and within us goes back as
far as I have memory and grows still.

What could happen if we began to
listen more closely to the whisperings
of the cosmos to let our consciousness
expand with it and begin to see,
truly see, the unity which exists
and connects us all as stardust?

Can you fathom that your body contains
material billions of years old and also
is continually, newly created?
Aren't we miraculous?
Aren't we masterfully designed?
Aren't we lovelier than we give
ourselves credit?

Even the simple ingredient of salt
has a far out, magical history.

The next time you reach for a French fry, think about salt.

Think about the miracle of us being here.
About how intimately connected all of nature is.
Look up at twinkling stars and think "I am that."
Look up and be changed forever.

Peace to you. lovely stardust, right where you are.

  1. Truly a beautiful and thought provoking post. It reminded me of these lyrics:
"We are stardust, we are golden
We are billion year old carbon
And we got to get ourselves back to the garden..."
    Crosby, Stills and Nash.

  2. I love Cosmology. You might enjoy reading Mary Stewart Adams. She weaves folk lore, fairytales storytelling and history thru the movement of the constellations.

Rudolf Steiner had some deep thought about esoteric cosmology as well. The skies are alive with magic aren't they.
