Pamela Pierce Designs Bedrooms {European Farmhouse Decor Inspiration}
January 09, 2017Pamela Pierce Bedrooms |
All of the interior design inspiration I have been sharing
from the archives of Pamela Pierce Designs
(today's topic is BEDROOMS)
has me itching to load up my SUV and hightail
it to Houston to drink whatever the creatives
in Texas are imbibing - they're truly on their game
and designing the lovely I love!
To whom could I be referring?
In addition to Pam Pierce, there is the team
at Milieu, including Shannon Bowers,
Eleanor Cummings (featured in the magazine),
Chateau Domingue's Ruth Gay,
blogger/designer/Milieu contributor Greet Lefevre
(by way of Belgium!), Texas bloggers/designers
Leslie Sinclair and Joni Webb, Round Top's
shabby chic Brit on the prairie, Rachel Ashwell,
and Fixer Upper Phenoms, Joanna and Chip.
Methinks I am spacing out royally and neglecting
too many Texas lovelies...je suis désolé, but
in any case, I do believe
I'm fixin' to get my Texas on soon
(fixin' to is the only Texas-speak the fairy
from the heartland knows and hails from a
former neighbor who habitually cracked her up).
Random:
They used to sort of love me in Texas.
True.
I'm a writer and was a regular contributor
to a column in PARENTWISE AUSTIN for years.
I wrote these edgy, true, humiliating stories
about "My Life as a Parent" of two
I was so sad to see that magazine close its
doors...an artist would draw these
illustrations to accompany my essays,
and seeing those depictions thrilled me and
soothed the inevitable vulnerability hangovers.
They (magazine editors) also loved me in
New York and Vermont.
And San Diego. Canada still thinks I'm a hoot!
But the state I call home? Boo. Not so much.
(Maybe Illinois finds me one bubble off plumb?)
Focus now.
These beautiful bedrooms by Pamela Pierce.
Were they a dessert, surely they would taste of
strawberries and cream, deliciously not too sweet.
I admire how they're fleeky on pointe without
becoming fussy, too presh, or granny frou frou.
There's romantic elegance, classic timelessness,
feminine refinery and gentle quietude in them.
They're honest.
Honest? Oui, Honest.
As opposed to dishonest
(which would be more slippery than a pocketful of puddin').
These bedrooms are lovely to behold, and so we shall.
Onward.

I recognize the above is not a bedroom...still, since it's a daybed, I'm adding it to the collection. |

Ha this Chicago area girl enjoys your blog and features!! But my observation of us here in the Midwest we have our heads down plowing forward, the middle of the country is just smidge different...we are the salt of the earth, hard working and kind so there is always that!
ReplyDeletethank you, elaine! ha! i went back to my post and clarified..."they" are magazine editors and gatekeepers and not readers. i love illinois and our sensibilities, and there is nothing like the directness you can expect from a chicagoan. i just couldn't seem to charm many gatekeepers! xox

DeleteAhhh. Betsy. Of course I remember her on As The World Turns. I used to dream about her storyline! I've really enjoyed the Pamela Pierce pasts. Thanks for those!
ReplyDeletehahahaha. that is hilarious. i'm so glad you're lovin the piercing goodness. xox
DeletePamela has provided so much inspiration to the design world over the past 20 years. I was cleaning out some old Veranda magazines last night and found her personal home in the Fall 1997 issue. Don't see those photos on the web. You can see how much she has changed her style and how much of her core has remained the same. I am holding my breath waiting to see new work from her.
ReplyDeletei need to dig out my old copies too! you're on to something there, friend. there are more posts in the hopper to satisfy your craving. xox
DeleteYour comments add to the beauty...thanks in advance for your kindness.
