Traditional Lofty Modern Farmhouse in California {Farmhouse Style}
January 16, 2017Interior Design Inspiration: Modern Farmhouse Style |
It was impossible to miss my enthusiasm for
in C Magazine for another stunning traditional,
lofty modern farmhouse, brace yourselves for similar
high energy commentary and dramatic punctuation!
Fine. I'll behave with the exclamation marks.
Probably.
You must understand that I have been committed to
and personally invested in a whole house DIY renovation
since June 2015, and in multiple renos before that,
so renovation stories are treasures to me, and the creatives
involved in transforming structures, my heroes.
(No, I most certainly am not equating our humble
fixer upper project with the refinery going on
in the Ojai, California vicinity! Ha!)
HELLO LOVELY has always worked hard
to leverage the role of the artist and creative
because they are so very important to the health
of our culture, society, and humanity.
Artists build bridges to transport us to beauty,
and I still believe beauty can save the world.

The walls came down inside this couple's decaying,
Midcentury, Cape-cod, traditional home in
Atherton, California, and working within its
existing footprint, the house
received a brand new lofty identity.
The Giannettis are a dream team,
They are the real deal.
I am so grateful for the Giannetti's open-ness
in sharing their design journey and
de-mystifying so much of the work
and process so we too may emulate
the rustic elegance of patina and farmhouse style
so freely shared online and in their books.
We often take this willingness for granted,
and it isn't a small thing.
Successful design elements at work
in this lovely traditional home?
Oh, guys...
A whole slew of our favorite lovelies:
Incorporating the owners' collection
of French and Swedish antiques
Connecting the interior to the gardens
Oversize steel-frame doors and windows
Neutrals
Natural materials that age well

Ready for a tour of a magnificent Cali whole house renovation?
Onward.
Oh, guys.
I am trained in psychotherapy and truly
comprehend the value of a good session, but
fine art, architecture, and design are also therapeutic.
For me, savoring the thoughtful design goodness
within an inspiring, artfully done renovation
like this traditional modern one from
the Giannettis offers
sweet healing and relief from the
weariness of modern life.
Not everyone will agree with me.
It only feels like sweet healing
when the seeing is seen
through the right lens.
When we gaze upon beauty
with an admiring eye
without the strong desire
to acquire.
The right lens is everything.
To admire without the need to acquire.

Love it. Especially the Swedish furniture. I am wondering what kind of wide board flooring they used throughout all the living spaces and is it all wood or is it wood-look tile in the bathrooms? When we did our house in Maple we couldn't get boards wider than 5 inches. These look much wider than that.
ReplyDeleteThe Swedish furniture is beyond gorgeous, and isn't this setting just amazing for it? :)
DeleteI love this post, as I love Brook and Steve. Everything they do is magical! I have never seen a room or a detail in any of the houses they design that I have not loved.
